Supply and Installation of Mineral Filter Media
Bagnall Construction Ltd have over 20 years experience of the following types of mineral and plastic filter media. We are able to supply and have experience of the following types of mineral media and other mineral filter medias:
- Blast Furnace Slag – this is the preferred choice. This can be supplied in 14/32mm, 20/40mm, 32/50mm and 40/63mm grades.
- Plastic Media
We can deliver ready screened in 1.5 Tonne bulk bags on flat bed trucks, or loose in bulk tippers to be screened on site.
Installation Of New Media
To support the media and to keep it clear of the base of the filter a floor of precast concrete tiles are first placed into the filter. Ventilation is important for the filter to function properly, this is achieved by installing 110mm, 160mm or 200mm diameter vents around the circumference of the filter which are then fitted with a galvanised steel vent terminal.
New media is screened on site prior to installation to remove fines and dust generated during loading and transport. Once screened, it is where possible installed using our Telebelt conveyor truck. Using the Telebelt reduces the possible degradation and avoids dropping new media caused by excessive handling. Large plant and dumpers should never be permitted to travel on or over the media as this cause crushing.
Removal of Old Media
We are also able to remove old media from the most inaccessible filters. This can be re-cycled for re-use where appropriate giving significant cost savings and reducing environmental impact (see washing) or removed and disposed of.
